Green Hills Real Estate Information

Just five miles south of Nashville, Green Hills, Tennessee, is a small community that is considered a part of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County. The community is within Davidson County but as it is neither an incorporated community nor a census-designated place, population figures and finite boundaries are impossible to define. The community lies south of downtown Nashville on Hillsboro Road, just outside the I-440 loop surrounding the city of Nashville.

The area is best known for its shopping center, The Mall at Green Hills. This relatively affluent area is also home to Green Hills Park and is the site of Lipscomb University, a private, coed liberal arts college affiliated with the Churches of Christ. Other schools found here include Harpeth Hall School, a prestigious girls' high school, the public Hillsboro High School, and the public Julia Green Elementary School. The schools are run by the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools, which administers more than 100 schools in the area. Besides Lipscomb, there are also around 20 other colleges and universities located in the Nashville region, from four-year public state schools to community colleges to smaller, private, religious schools.

There are plenty of options for entertainment in the greater Nashville area. As home to the country's epicenter of country music, concerts, performances, recording studios and musical events abound. The city is home to two professional sports franchise teams -- one in the nation's football league and one in the national hockey league. Nashville has a ballet, a symphony, several performing arts venues and an opera. Several museums, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, the Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art; and the Tennessee State Museum, are in Nashville. Events are held throughout the year in the area, with some of the largest being the Nashville Film Festival, the nine-day Tennessee State Fair, the Tomato Art Festival and the Australian Festival.
